The Balance of cocktail: "SUGAR". How to make a simple syrup?

Flavoring a cocktail is very easy, because the best carrier of aromas is available everywhere-sugar. You may think that You are not a person which like sugar or You try to reduce it as much as possible. Did You try to make balanced cocktail without sugar?


There are two effects of using sugar syrup in cocktails. First of all, using in the right amount, it open other flavors and give You wider horizon of wealth. The other way, too much sugar kills your flavors and your cocktail will taste boring. The heart of your cocktail will lose its character.


The optimal version, which blends well with everything (and does not crunch between the teeth) is sugar in the form of a "simple syrup".

HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE SYRUP AT HOME?


There are two well know ways to prepare it. Sugar with water in a 1:1 or 2:1 volume ratio. Personally, I prefer second option where two parts of sugar mixing with one part of water. Also, to make syrup I am using a demerara sugar (a kind of brown, unrefined sugarcane sugar), but do not worry. You can make it from white sugar.


Instruction

1. Gather all the ingredients.

2. Bring the water to a boil and dissolve the sugar into the boiling water, stirring constantly. Once sugar is dissolved completely, remove from the heat. Let it cool and then store in a glass bottle in the fridge.


Important!

To prevent yeast from multiplying, pour about 15ml of pure vodka into the bottle or squeeze some lemon juice.
